Founder · lead expedition guide
Leads our expeditions across Lake Iriki and the Erg Chegaga dunes.

The Sahara seen through the eyes of the people who call this region home.
Foum Zguid (foum means “mouth”) sits where the Anti-Atlas opens onto the desert. It is the last stop before the great open spaces of the Sahara and the gateway to Erg Chegaga. Our story belongs to these plains: the palm groves, the dry bed of Lake Iriki, and the high dunes beyond.
Abdeljalil Lahmidi began taking travellers into the desert in 2012. Today the same local team runs every route.

The people who will drive, walk and share the desert with you.

Plastic-free camp
No single-use plastic in our camps since 2021.
For the families who live here the desert isn't scenery, it's life. We follow a strict leave-no-trace rule, and we buy what we can at the Foum Zguid market so the money stays with local farmers and artisans.
Dune preservation
We follow the same tracks and leave the dunes as we found them, so the landscape stays wild.
Saving water
Every litre of water is brought in, so none is wasted. We use refills instead of plastic bottles.
Supporting local people
We hire and train young people from Foum Zguid and buy our supplies from local families.
