Dunes of the Erg Chegaga under a clear blue sky

The Silent Sahara

Skip the crowds of Merzouga and discover Erg Chegaga through its quiet gateway, Foum Zguid.

The authentic gateway

Why Foum Zguid over Merzouga?

The direct entrance to Erg Chegaga

Foum Zguid is the last stop before the open Sahara and opens straight onto Erg Chegaga, one of Morocco's most spectacular dune landscapes, reached by 4×4 across Lake Iriki.

The sound of silence

Far from the busy dune camps, the desert here is quiet enough to really hear the silence.

A real local connection

Every journey is run by a local team from Foum Zguid who know the tracks and love sharing their region.

We did the 2-day trip from Foum Zguid. The drive across Lake Iriki was amazing and our camp was quiet, no big groups around. Dinner by the fire was the best part. Highly recommend!

Abdeljalil was a great guide, calm, friendly and always on time. The sunset camel ride and the stars at night were unforgettable. Good value for a private 4×4.

Beautiful dunes and very kind people. The tent was simple but clean and the blankets were warm. It gets really cold at night in winter, so bring a good jacket.

Exactly what we were looking for, far from the crowds of Merzouga. Mint tea, good food and real silence. We already want to come back for the 3-day trip.
